View From The Top | SRA International goes to Doha, Qatar
On December 6 and 7, 2015, SRAI brought its expertise and international outreach to 46 faculty researchers and administrators at the Qatar Foundation, in Doha, Qatar. Over the two days Dr. Marjorie Piechowski, SRAI Distinguished Faculty and SRAI past president, made seven presentations on proposal writing in an intense, hands-on workshop. The workshop topics, requested by the Qatar Foundation, included an Overview of Grant Writing, Strategies for Working with Funders, Building a Proposal Development Infrastructure, Capacity Building for Principal Investigators, Putting the Proposal Together, and What Happens after the Review Process- Revising and Resubmitting Unfunded Proposals to Increase Success. Read more.

Reorganizing Sponsored Research Operations at a Small Liberal Arts College
When I first started as a grants administrator, we were a “combined office” (supporting sponsored research and institutional grants) and had just a handful of externally funded competitive awards from a small number of funders. Since those early days of my career here in research administration, the number of grants, diversity of funders, and frequency of six-figure-plus grants has grown tremendously—a testament first and foremost to our faculty and also the increase in grants support through staffing and professional development. Despite these successes, my instincts told me that there was still significant untapped potential that would require even greater investment in our grant operations and a level of creativity that matched that of our world-class faculty. Read more.
