International Benchmarking with Snowball Metrics

Wednesday, January 11, 2017 - 2:00pm to 3:00pm

This webinar will provide an introduction to Snowball Metrics and the Snowball Metrics Exchange (SMX) to explain how institutions can benchmark their research and innovation performance with peer institutions around the world.

Created by ‘the sector’, for ‘the sector’ Snowball Metrics is a set of definitions and metric ‘recipes’ which can facilitate a common understanding of institutional performance across different funder types and academic disciplines (with UK to US mappings available). In turn this enables ‘apples to apples’ benchmarking, which can complement expert opinion, contextual knowledge and peer review to give a fuller understanding of strengths and weaknesses within an organization.

The webinar will explain what Snowball Metrics are, how the SMX works, how the recent launch of the SMX has been involved in the UK and how international colleagues can benefit.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand what Snowball Metrics are and how they have been developed.
  • Know how to get involved in benchmarking research and innovation performance with Snowball Metrics.
